Why Filesystem (reference) is the candidate
Filesystem (reference) passed every step in Cursor. It is the group’s site-wide candidate (judged 2026-10-22): Wrote a fresh code to a file and read it back in every client we test (Claude Code, Cursor, Claude Desktop and ChatGPT (Codex)), and the second runs in Claude Code, Cursor and ChatGPT (Codex) passed again. In Claude Code it needed the test folder added to permissions.additionalDirectories. Draw.io also passed in all 4 clients (one run each) but only with its editor open in a browser. Excel was the earlier pick: it passed twice in Claude Code and Cursor, but its second ChatGPT (Codex) run failed on Oct 21, 2026, so by judging rule 1 it now ranks below both.
Provisional: based on one dated run per app (no repeat runs yet), so treat it as a candidate, not a final pick. How we test.
