Why Code Index MCP is the candidate
Code Index MCP passed every step in Cursor. It is the group’s site-wide candidate (judged 2026-10-21): All four servers found where compute_total is defined and where it's called, in both clients. Code Index did it in the fewest calls (2 in each client); Serena needed 7 in total, Git 9 and codebase-memory 10. On a 2-file repo this shows they work, not how they scale. On Oct 14 all four also passed in Claude Desktop and ChatGPT (Codex), so call counts from Claude Code and Cursor remain the only tiebreak. Confirmed Oct 21, 2026: a second run passed again in all 4 clients (code-index-mcp 2.17.1).
