- Complaint Confirmed from openai/codex source (Feature::DaemonAutoStart, default_enabled=true, stage Stable in codex-rs/features/src/lib.rs) and open issue openai/codex#48195: since CLI 0.157.0 an interactive `codex` session auto-starts a persistent `codex app-server --managed-daemon` that outlives the session (reparented to PID 1), copies ~374 MB into ~/.codex/packages/app-server-daemon/, and runs a detached hourly updater. Opt out with `codex features disable daemon_auto_start` then `codex app-server daemon stop`. Issue still open (asks for opt-in default). Agents are listed, not tested — we did not run the CLI for this note.
